Therapeutic Massage
At Meraki Healing there’s no such thing as a standard massage because every single treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual client.
On your first visit you should expect to be here longer than the treatment time you’ve booked. Before she begins, our founder and principal therapist Adèle will conduct a thorough consultation and medical evaluation to make sure she fully understands the particular aches and stiffness you’re experiencing. Only then will she commence your treatment. She’ll use her evaluation as a starting point as she works away at the knots and tension she finds, to leave you feeling a changed person.
When you come back for subsequent treatments, you can expect Adèle to remember what happened on your previous visit, and to ask how you’ve been. She’s passionate about her work and loves to see her clients making progress.

Safe-Hands Touch Therapy For Those Living With Or Beyond Cancer
We’ve often heard it said people living with or beyond cancer shouldn’t have a massage. And certainly if your medical history includes cancer, most spas will tell you they cannot offer you any treatment. Knowing this, it may lead some clients to leave out important relevant information when they complete their medical form. We understand this – but we’d always ask people to be honest for their own safety.
It requires specialist training for therapists to treat clients with cancer. They must understand the biology of cancer, its treatments, side-effects and associated conditions and the ways in which these alter their practice. Hygiene and infection control is also of paramount importance and trained therapists know how to keep their clients safe.
Our founder and principal therapist, Adèle, saw the disappointment on the faces of people with cancer being refused spa treatments. She was frustrated that at the very time her clients needed a little tender loving care, she had nothing to offer them. So she looked for an answer.
We are very pleased to say, following training and accreditation by the leading expert in the field, Adèle is able to offer Oncology Touch Therapy massage. A safe and meaningful treatment for those living with or beyond cancer, providing a gentle soothing and supportive touch, effective at reducing anxiety, depression and fatigue.

Reflexology
In the modern world reflexology is a complementary health therapy, but it can trace its roots back to ancient Egypt, India and China where practitioners discovered the organs and systems of the whole body were reflected in the feet. By ‘reading’ the feet with their fingers, reflexologists could discover congestion or areas of imbalance. And by stimulating the appropriate parts of the foot, they could encourage the body to rebalance itself resulting in much improved wellbeing.
Our founder and principal therapist Adèle always says “the feet don’t lie” but it’s important to remember that Reflexology is not a diagnostic tool. Whatever Adèle finds, she will discuss with you and help make sense of the problem areas.

Fascia Informed Bodywork
For many years western medicine has largely ignored fascia, but modern research suggests this was a mistake. And here at Meraki Healing, our founder and principal therapist Adèle has noticed some remarkable results from incorporating fascial release into her work.
So, what is Fascia I hear you ask. Put simply, fascia is a wonderful dynamic continuous web of connective tissue found throughout the body. It is the largest system in the body as it touches all other systems. It is what gives our body its structure. Muscles are 80% fascia so when starting to work on areas of tension and stiffness, it’s vitally important to work with the fascia alongside the muscle fibres. Fascia is also our largest sensory organ containing around 250 million sensory receptors – 100 million of which are in the muscles; meaning the pain you feel is far more likely to be coming from fascial restriction than anything else. In health, fascia is well hydrated, flexible and can withstand a surprising amount of wear and tear. However, repetitive movements, poor posture and trauma will, over time, deplete the fascia’s capacity to function. Fascia is a fluid loving system. When it becomes stressed, adhesions are formed which disrupt the flow of fluid and it becomes dehydrated. This leads to restriction of movement and ultimately pain.
By using a variety of techniques, Adèle is able to find areas of fascial restriction and begin to rehydrate the tissue, untangle the web and return it to a healthy state. The consultation prior to this treatment is very detailed so please expect to be here longer than your treatment time. The more information Adèle has about your history, the better equipped she will be to help you. Remember, our life’s journey has exposed us to physical and emotional injury, stress, anxiety and trauma and all of those experiences affect the functionality of our fascia. It is likely to be a journey of discovery and tangible healing as each of your treatments unfold.
